Printmaker specialising in wood engraving prints.

I create detailed landscapes that explore the human condition and our connection to the natural world. My work is inspired by the rugged Cornish coastline and the vast Canadian landscapes of my childhood. Currently based in Cornwall, UK.

The Process

My prints are hand-printed from end-grain wood blocks. From sketching the original idea to signing the final prints, the process is labour-intensive but very rewarding.

I always start with a sketch, either from memory or from life. I’m drawn to solitary figures and houses set against vast open landscapes, so these feature frequently in my work.

After I have the drawing, I work on engraving the image into the woodblock. I then roll a thin layer of ink onto the engraved block and carefully place my paper on top. I apply pressure to the back of the paper to transfer the ink - either by hand burnishing it or putting it through an old-fashioned printing press.

I let the prints dry, then sign + number each one. I print limited editions so each print gets its own unique number in the bottom corner and after they are sold out I won’t print any more.

Kind words from buyers

  • Thank you so much for the safe delivery of my beautiful picture - the snow looks like it's really snowing and I can just imagine I'm there, heading home! I love it.

  • This print speaks to me in a profound way. It immediately conjures up the bittersweet feeling of love and loss of my dear grandparents. The couple walking on the beach, the movement of the waves, and the sea birds flying all make me imagine them walking together in the great beyond.

  • This print talked to me since I first saw it here on Insta. So happy I finally decided to buy it. It gives me a warm feeling of calm and home.
